How much does it cost for the LLC registration package, and what services are included?

The LLC registration package costs $399 plus applicable state fees and includes a registered agent service, opening a bank account and debit card, state registration, and getting an Employer Identification Number (EIN).

Is the LLC registration fee a recurring charge?

No, the registration fee is a one-time charge. 

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, and bank transfers. If you have a specific payment method in mind, please get in touch with our team to discuss the possibilities.

Can I add additional services, like a U.S. phone number, after registration?

Yes, you can optionally add a U.S. phone number or mailing address from your dashboard at any time for a small annual fee. For more information, visit https://www.hatchly.com/pricing/.

As a non-U.S. resident, what state should I register my LLC in?

We recommend non-U.S. residents register their LLC in Wyoming because it has strong privacy laws, no state tax for LLC’s, and straight-forward regulations. 

What documentation do I need to register an LLC?

To register your LLC, we require: 

  • your business details
  • a LinkedIn profile link (if available)
  • your business website URL
  • a copy of your passport for non-U.S. residents or a valid ID for U.S. residents

Does the LLC registration package include annual maintenance services?

No, annual maintenance services are not included. However, we offer additional services for ongoing support to help your LLC remain compliant.

Can you help me get a business license or an ITIN?

We don’t provide help with getting a business license or applying for an ITIN right now. It’s best to talk to a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a legal expert for help with these.

Do I need a Social Security Number (SSN) to register an LLC?

No, an SSN is not required.

Can I register a U.S. LLC from any country?

We welcome international entrepreneurs; but please check if your country is on the Mercury restricted list:

If your country isn't restricted, we fully support your LLC registration and banking needs. If it is restricted, we can help with LLC registration, but your banking options may be limited.

Do I need to be 18 to open a US bank account?

Yes, you must be 18 or older to open a US bank account.

How long does it take to register an LLC?

The LLC registration process usually takes 20-30 business days. Expedited services are available for an additional fee.

Can I register and operate a U.S. LLC on a non-work visa?

You can register a U.S. LLC with any visa type, but you need a work visa to manage the business yourself. For more details, it’s best to talk to an immigration expert.

Can I include multiple members in my LLC?

Yes, you can include multiple members or owners in your LLC.

Is it possible for a non-U.S. business to be an owner of my LLC?

Yes, your LLC can be owned by a business based outside the U.S., but an individual must be designated as the responsible party. 

Do I need to have an existing business in my home country to register an LLC in the U.S.?

No, you are not required to have an existing business in your home country to establish an LLC in the US.

Can I travel to the U.S. to expand my business after registering my LLC?

Hatchly can assist with registering your business, but for travel and business activities in the U.S., it's best to speak with an immigration lawyer.

Do I need to be present in the U.S. for any part of the LLC registration process?

No, Hatchly's services are designed to allow you to complete the entire LLC registration process remotely.

I wish to change my company's name after registration. Does Hatchly offer support for this?

No, this option is not currently available.

Can I operate multiple business ventures under one LLC?

Yes, you can have multiple businesses operating under a single LLC. 

Expedited EIN Application FAQs

Can I expedite the process of obtaining an EIN for my LLC?

Yes, we have an expedited service that completes the process in 7-12 days. If you choose this, a Hatchly representative will be the responsible party on the EIN application.

Will the designation of a Hatchly representative as the responsible party affect my ability to open a business bank account?

No, having a Hatchly representative listed as the responsible party on your EIN will not affect your ability to open a bank account.

What documentation will show the responsible party for my EIN?

The responsible party's name, which will be a Hatchly representative if you choose our expedited service, will appear on your EIN confirmation letter. 

Can I change the responsible party on my EIN later?

Yes, you can change the responsible party by filing Form 8822-B after getting your EIN through our expedited service. Remember, this may take over 60 business days. While we don’t help directly with this change, we can show you how to get started.

Banking FAQs

What banking options do you provide?

Both of our funding partners, Relay and Mercury, are great online banking solutions and you have the option to choose either.

What is the location of the partnering banks for the online banking services?

The online banking services are supported by regional banks located in the United States, which manage substantial amounts of deposits. These services are specifically provided through partnerships with banks like Choice Financial Group and Evolve Bank & Trust®, both of which are members of the FDIC.

I have a visa from a restricted country but I live in an unrestricted country. Can you help me open a bank account?

Yes, we can help you open a bank account if you live in an unrestricted country, no matter where your visa is from.

What if my bank account application is denied?

First, ensure your country isn't on Mercury’s Restricted Country List:

If Mercury denies your application, try applying with Relay. If Relay also denies you, you can appeal through the Hatchly dashboard. Before appealing, ensure you have a functional website with your business’s name.

What if I am unable to get a bank account for my LLC?

We do our best to get a bank account for every LLC owner. If we are unable to open you a bank account, we will gladly refund the full LLC registration package fee.

When will you begin opening my bank account?

The process starts when we get your LLC's EIN. After receiving your EIN, you can activate your bank account using the link in your dashboard.

Can I use a physical bank instead?

Yes, you can use a traditional bank. The documents we provide after your LLC registration will allow you to apply to these banks. However, keep in mind that you often need to be physically present in the U.S. for these applications.

Can I use my personal account for my business?

We strongly suggest having separate accounts for personal and business transactions.

Can you help with getting a bank account for an existing LLC?

Yes, we welcome existing LLCs to use our banking services. Once you onboard as an existing business, you can add a bank account via your dashboard.

I already have a C-Corp, can you help me with my bank account?

Unfortunately, we are unable to support opening bank accounts for C-Corps at this time.

Can the bank account be in my personal name?

We currently only assist in opening corporate bank accounts for LLC’s.

Can I open multiple bank accounts for my LLC?

We can only assist with opening one bank account, but you are free to open additional bank accounts on your own.

Who can access the business bank account?

Control of and access to your LLC’s bank account lies with you, the LLC owner.

What is the limit on my business bank account?

Account limits are determined on a case by case basis. Once your account is opened, our banking partners will provide that information to you.

Can I request multiple debit cards for my team?

Yes, additional debit cards for your business can be requested directly from our banking partners.

Registered Agent FAQs

Who will be my registered agent?

Hatchly will be your registered agent.

When will I get the address for my registered agent?

After your LLC registration is complete, we will provide you with the address of your Registered Agent. 

Can people visit my registered agent address?

The Registered Agent address is for the purpose of receiving legal and official correspondence. It cannot be used as a physical location for your business operations, or for client visits.

Can I get a utility bill for my registered agent address?

Unfortunately, no. 

We recommend using Virtual Post Mail's TrueLease service if you need a lease agreement and utility bill for banking verification. Find out more about Virtual Post Mail's TrueLease here: https://www.virtualpostmail.com/trulease/business-bank-account-leasing-plan 

Can I use my personal address as the registered agent

Unfortunately, no. The registered address is already included as part of our package.

Can I list the registered agent address on my business website?

Yes, the registered agent address can be listed on your business website.

What does it mean if another business is using the same registered agent address?

Sharing a registered agent address with other businesses is a standard practice, as registered agents often serve multiple businesses.

Can I purchase my registered agent address as a standalone service?

No, this service is part of our LLC registration package and is not available separately. 

How can I communicate directly with my Registered Agent?

If you choose to directly contact your Registered Agent, we can help make that switch. But, be aware that doing so means you won't have access to our compliance services like tax filings and bookkeeping.

Can the registered agent represent me as a director in the United States?

No, our registered agent service is for managing legal and official mail for your LLC, not for acting as a director or manager in your company.

Mailing Services FAQs

Can I receive mail at the registered agent address?

Yes, our Registered Agent service can receive flat mail items such as debit cards and letters on behalf of your business. However, we are unable to accept bulky packages.

I'm expecting mail at the registered agent address. Why hasn't it arrived?

Please make sure the mail or package is addressed with your LLC's name, as this is crucial for identification and sorting. Items sent to our Registered Agent address typically take 2-3 weeks to process because of the large amount of mail being handled. 

 

If the item isn't specifically addressed to your LLC, you may need to request it be resent with the correct naming.

Will you scan and forward any mail received at the registered agent address?

Yes, any mail received for your LLC at the registered agent address will be scanned and emailed to you. 

 

If you would like your mail physically forwarded to your local address, this service is available for an additional fee.

Can my business registration documents be mailed to my local address?

While we are unable to physically mail them, all essential business registration documents are conveniently available for download and printing directly from your dashboard.

How much does it cost to forward my mail to my local address?

Shipping costs vary between $99 and $199. Our team will determine the exact charge based on your package’s details and inform you. Fees are rounded to the nearest $99. For any shipping cost questions, we suggest contacting us directly.

Where will you ship my mail or package?

We ship to the local address provided by you during onboarding.

How do I pay for shipping my mail or package?

Once the shipping fee is determined and agreed upon, we will issue an invoice for payment. 

What is the expected delivery time for my mail?

Delivery can take 3-5 weeks via USPS. Note that USPS does not provide tracking information by default. 

 

For quicker delivery with options for tracking, priority shipping options are available.

Can the registered agent scan the back of a check received by mail?

We only scan the front of checks received at the Registered Agent's address. If you need scans of both sides, we can arrange to send the check to our processing team or to your local address for an extra charge.

Operating Agreements FAQs

When will I receive my operating agreement?

The operating agreement is available for a one-time fee of $99, separate from your LLC registration package. 

 

Once your EIN is secured and payment confirmed through your dashboard, you can request your operating agreement directly from us.

Can I make changes to my operating agreement?

Yes, you can request an updated operating agreement for $99 simply by updating the information you wish to change. However, if adding or removing business members, check with us first. You are also free to update your operating agreement on your own if you prefer.

I can't find the e-signature link for my operating agreement. What should I do?

If you have any issues accessing your operating agreement for e-signature, please reach out directly to us for assistance.

Is having an operating agreement mandatory for my LLC?

We recommend an operating agreement for LLCs with multiple members. It provides a detailed guide on operational procedures, decision-making, and other key governance details of your LLC.

Taxes and Compliance FAQs

How much will I have to pay in taxes?

We provide a tax estimation tool to help you figure out your LLC's tax obligations. You can find our tax estimation tool here: startglobal.co/tax-estimator 

How often do I need to file taxes for my LLC?

Tax filings are done annually.

Do I need to file taxes on my LLC’s income?

Ideally, as you won’t be physically present within the United States, you won’t get taxed on your income. However, you still must file your state and federal taxes, as well as renew your registered agent subscription yearly.

How should I handle taxes in my home country for my LLC?

We recommend consulting with a tax professional in your country of residence to ensure compliance with local laws.

I’m having trouble connecting my bank account to Hatchly’s bookkeeping services.

Sometimes, syncing your bank account can lead to integration issues. If this happens, we suggest manually uploading your bank statements via your dashboard.

Can I speak directly with a tax professional?

CPA consultations will soon be available through your dashboard. Until this feature is launched, our team is here to pass your tax questions onto our network of CPAs and provide you with detailed responses.

Will Hatchly manage my LLC's annual tax filings?

Yes, when you sign up for our maintenance package, annual tax filing services are included.

How will I be alerted to upcoming deadlines?

We send reminders via email well before any compliance or filing deadlines to ensure you have enough time to submit any required documentation.

I received prompts for filing despite having no business activity last year. Why?

All LLCs, regardless of business activity, must file their annual state and federal taxes.

Closing or Altering Business Structure FAQs

What is the process for closing my LLC?

Before closing your LLC, we check that your business is in good standing. Closure fees differ by state ($457 for Wyoming and $897 for Delaware), and you must resolve all compliance issues through your dashboard before we can start the closure process.

 

The closure process takes 3-5 weeks. After we get the state's approval document for termination, we'll send it to you.

Can I pause my LLC and resume later?

Unfortunately, there is no option to 'freeze' operations. We can guide you through the closure process if you decide to cease operations.

Can you help me get a DBA/Trade name?

Unfortunately, this is not yet included in our services.

Can you help me get a certificate of good standing?

For LLCs in Wyoming we can help you get Good Standing Certificates directly. For Delaware LLCs, we coordinate with our partners to ensure you receive necessary documentation for your business.

Invoicing FAQs

How does the invoicing system work?

Yes, if you sign up for our invoicing service at $49/year. This service, integrated with Stripe, lets you create invoices and share payment links with clients directly from your dashboard. We currently only support transactions via card in USD.

Can I customize the invoice?

Yes, you can personalize invoices with your business logo and custom messages to clients.

Is there a limit to the number of invoices I can generate?

No, we offer unlimited invoice generation.

How can I delete an invoice?

If you need to delete an invoice, simply send us an email containing the invoice number and request that we delete it.

Refunds FAQs

Do you offer refunds?

If for some reason we are unable to deliver on our promise to provide a bank account or other essential LLC establishment services, we will gladly provide a full refund minus any non-refundable state fees.

How long does it take to receive a refund?

It typically takes from 5-10 business days for a refund to be reflected in your account.

What should I do if I haven't received my refund after 10 days?

Please contact your card issuer's customer support for further assistance. We can also provide you with a receipt of the refund for your records.

Can I get a refund if I haven't operated my business?

Unfortunately, no. A refund is only issued if we are unable to deliver on our promise to provide a bank account or other essential LLC establishment services. 

I requested to halt the LLC filing process, but didn't receive a response, and now my LLC has been filed. Can I get a refund?

Our automated system processes LLC filings as soon as we receive your details. If you cancel after submitting, we can refund you, except for the state filing fee, which is non-refundable.

Following my refund, can I ask Hatchly to delete all my information?

While we understand your concern for privacy, we are legally required to retain records of both formed and dissolved companies.
